Learners will be introduced to the concept of autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) began from the Age of Antiquity to the New Millennium of the 21st century AD, and also learn about the different categories of autism treatment – allopathic, complementary and alternative in order to evaluate each treatment.
Learners will be introduced to the key levels of autism screening and assessment and will learn about using the different autism assessment tools – formal, informal and non-formal. Learners will be given selected case studies of subjects (child, youth and adult) with autism and learn how to plan an autism treatment based on one to three selected autism treatment approaches.
Learners will learn and understand the three key subtypes of sensory processing disorder and the results obtained from the Sensory Profile administration and what they can do in the treatment. Learners will learn that prosocial behavior is a social behavior that benefits others as a whole (e.g., helping, sharing, turn-taking).
Learners are introduced to the disability history and models of People with Disabilities (PWDs). For people with disabilities, employment means greater economic self-sufficiency, an opportunity to use their skills, and more active participation in community life. Learners will understand the kinds of inventories and checklists available to assist community service workers working with people with disabilities in seeking employment.
Learners will also be introduced to the vocational screening and clinical exploratory assessment for the different phases of vocational measurement cycle. Learners will also cover the different types, purposes and uses of measures in vocational assessment, and interpret the scores in terms of the vocational competence and performance of the person with disability, and if s/he is ready for vocational training and/or employment.
Learners will learn about different assessment tools used in measuring the general cognitive abilities, behavioural abilities, vocational interest and skills of the person with a disability. Learners will be learning about the three key domains: (1) sensory processes/processing, (2) sensory modulation, and (3) sensory and behavioral responses in order to understand the sensory behavioral profile.
This introductory executive certificate module is a mandatory part of the overall executive diploma program in health and social case services (HSCS). It has been designed to provide a broad foundation of essential knowledge and skills for studies in the care field. In addition, the program also provides a thorough and supported program to develop the skills of independent learning that all trainees require, particularly the skill of communicating effectively in written language.

Learners will learn about the definition and differences of difficulties, disorders and disabilities. There are also differences between Cognitive Impairments, Development Delays and Challenging Behaviours. Learners will also understand the science that underpins these differences and their categorisation.
Learners will learn about the key components of case management beside the concept of care management. Learners will also understand the different approaches to manage the different forms of social care services, ensuring that the people receiving the social care could live comfortably.
