What Is EMDR?

Trauma and PTSD are both treated using a cutting-edge therapy known as EMDR. Rapid lateral eye movements, bilateral tapping, and bilateral frequencies are all methods of bilateral brain stimulation used in EMDR. An unpleasant memory can be retrieved and unblocked from the limbic midbrain via stimulation. As soon as the feeling is recovered, it is desensitised to the event/image.

The brain accomplishes two tasks: first, it releases the unfavourable memories and emotions that have been locked up in the limbic system, and second, it enables the brain to effectively analyse the event. The left and right hemispheres of the brain are stimulated by EMDR. It encourages collaboration as they work together to release memories that have been locked up in the neurological system. The mind, body, and emotions are all addressed with EMDR, not just one item at a time. Traumatic situations frequently get ingrained in your muscle memory.

Beginning in the late 1980s, EMDR Therapy swiftly gained popularity as a therapeutic option for military veterans suffering from PTSD and combat-related trauma. Since it was so effective in helping these soldiers, therapists began experimenting with utilising EMDR to address conditions like:

  • Trauma including small trauma
  • Anxieties

My focus is helping those who have endured traumatic or stressful circumstances to heal and to assist individuals in overcoming their obstacles and leading more satisfying and happy lives. The difficulties/challenges that got you into EMDR Therapy will shrink You’ll still recognize them as present, but they will seem smaller, quieter, and more insignificant. The perfect analogy here is that someone took the volume button and turned down your difficulties. You can still hear if you choose to pay attention, but it’s no longer bothersome or annoying, and therefore it’s not really a problem anymore.

I have received training in a variety of modalities over the past two decades. I am aware that no one method is the best for every person. I specialise as a Certified EMDR Practitioner, I hold a Postgraduate Science degree in CEIAG (Careers, Education, Information, Advice & Guidance). along with a Practitioner’s Diploma in both NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and Advanced CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) including a wealth of experience as a Life Empowerment Coach. Adding to the mix I am an author writing for the self-help genre offering guidance on life-experiences.
I have a strong desire to enable individuals to realise their greatest potential. I personalise therapy for each client, assisting you in effectively achieving your objectives.
Therapy with me is quick and effective and I am positive that I can help you move forward in your life. I can operate without content, when necessary, which is helpful for people who find it difficult to discuss their difficulties. In comparison to most therapists, my treatment sessions differ a little. I prefer to work with 90/60-minute sessions because they provide us the opportunity to cover a lot of territory in a single session and give us the time to process old trauma, which is difficult to do in the more conventional 50 minute sessions.

I am a member of the International Association of Therapists (IAOTH), which provides me with insurance and recognition on a global scale, to uphold my professional integrity and maintain the privacy of my clients. IAOTH is a company that upholds its strong ethical standards and values the unity of purpose. As an active IAOTH (International Association of Therapists. I absolutely abide by both organisations’ ethical guidelines. I get rigorous clinical supervision as part of my professional growth to ensure that I adhere to both organisational frameworks.
