The Empowering Domestic Violence Coach
Break Free, Heal Strong, Thrive Boldly.
Hi, everyone! I’m Stephanie, a certified life coach based in Quebec, Canada.
I refer to myself as a domestic violence coach not only due to my personal past experiences, but because I decided to specialize in helping people during and after their abuse.

Unsure of what I wanted to do in life as a career, I began as an ordained minister in 2012. My life purpose is to help people, but I wasn’t getting any clients, and I fell into a dead end. It didn’t help that I was in an abusive relationship, my health was deteriorating, and I needed to do better for my children. After I finally left my ex, I decided to focus on myself. I tried my hand at nursing, esthetics, doula services, dental secretary, and a handful of other certifications. Nothing panned out, and nowhere would work with me with my availability, which was while the children were in school.
Life was a whirlwind of chaos and uncertainty. I had no idea what I was doing. How would I pull of being a single mother with no job? Would I ever find love again? What could I possibly do to start a career that I love which also fulfilled me?

What next?
Maybe it was fate, but I saw an ad on Facebook about a self-published poetry program. I’d always wanted to be an author, so I went for it. Before long, I published my first poetry book, Beyond The Stars, in 2021.
Determined, I wrote and published my second book, Budgeted Wedding, based off a hobby blog I had, that same year. I was an avid romance reader, so I dove into writing over a dozen romance books. I did it, I finally had a career that I loved, and wanted to do for years. I didn’t even need to have some fancy degree to start!
Despite being happy with my writing career, I still had that longing to help people. Sure, my stories entertained others, but I wanted to do more than that. I wanted to change lives for the better, and part of me wanted my past experiences to mean something; that I didn’t suffer like that in vain.
I watched the sitcom Mom, and I loved the character Bonnie. She often joked about being a life coach, and I thought that was intriguing. I looked it up and realized it was a real thing. I couldn’t be a recognized counselor or therapist, since Quebec requires years of schooling to become one.
As my abusive ex-partners (yes, I had more than one in the past) finally let me go (or I blocked them), I could finally breathe. My children and I were safe, and I could focus on expanding my career. I became healthier, made better choices, and even got involved with tons of hobbies. I even went out more, much to my surprise, since I’m a die-hard introvert!
I signed up for life coaching courses, and watched videos on how to be successful. A piece of advice I heard over and over again was to niche down. It then came to me: I could be a domestic violence coach! I could help women like me heal and move on from abuse, and even help them find the courage to leave dangerous situations.
I got certified as a life coach by Alison in 2024 before specializing as a domestic violence support coach. I obtained my Domestic Violence Support certification from R4 Academy. I also published anther book, Express Yourself in 2024.
